“Soos die skemer na die aandster soek,
& ‘n hen rondom haar kuikens kloek.
Soos die maan hom tot die nag bekeer,
& die môre-uur die dag begeer.
Soos die bergpiek op ‘n sonstraal wag,
& die blou lug na ‘n arend smag.
Soos Karoo-bos na die reën verlang,
& ‘n vinknes aan ‘n tak moet hang.
Soos ‘n lelie langs ‘n dam wil wit,
& ‘n dassie teen ‘n krans wil sit.
Soos kinders wat graag kaalvoet loop,
waar ‘n leivoor nog op water hoop.
Soos branders na die kus toe neig,
& pêrels aan ‘n snoer wil ryg.
Soos rivier-monde die see wil vind,
& die lafenis in ‘n somerwind.
Soos Namakwa-daisies van die lente hou,
só groot is my gemis…
