IN LOVING MEMORY OF CLEOPATRA

My precious Cleopatra.

Thank you for 19 special years together. I will always remember the first time we saw you, and it will be impossible to forget the last. Our journey together all started as an impulse adoption from our mom, with no consideration about practicality or anything other than she wanted to show you our love and bring you into the family.

We fell in love with you immediately, and from the moment we were blessed with your company, you were an independent an inquisitive being. Always looking for your own way in the world. You didn’t want to be held and wanted to do your own thing. It took you a while to warm up to us, but once you did, you provided us with as much love as we gave to you.

You always wanted to cuddle and spent your time close to us when you weren’t out on patrol. You were so loving despite your regal nature, always willing to give love and to be loved. You spent most of your life in Dad’s bed, and the rest of it in mine. Always taking up the whole bed as this was your self-appointed right. But we didn’t mind. We knew exactly how special you were to us and wanted nothing short of the absolute best for you. And to be honest, I don’t think any of us would’ve had it any other way. Having you wrapped up underneath the blankets with us on cold winter nights was an absolute blessing. Just knowing that you were there gave me strength through some of the toughest nights of my life.

We shared so many memories together as you have been there through so many of the major hurdles in our lives, giving us a needed hug or some company as we went through all of our worst times, and making us laugh or showing your love through all of our best times, making them that much sweeter.

It pains me to know that I won’t have you next to me anymore, but I accept that it was your time to go. I am thankful for, and will cherish the many years we spent together. You will always remain in my heart, and I couldn’t possibly forget you. You are simply too important to all of us.
