OUT OF THE ASHES – DAISY

Out of the ashes, her love remains.

Daisy was never simply a dog. She was a presence, a voice, my little guardian and my faithful shadow. She never allowed anyone to forget that she was in the room and demanded attention as confidently as she gave her love. Wherever I went, you could guarantee that Daisy would be two steps behind me, making sure I was never truly alone.

At night, she would sleep above my head, always keeping herself as close to me as possible. Sometimes she would quietly sneak away to empty whatever food had been left in the bowls. And no matter where she was in the house, she always knew the very moment it was time to pay the cheese tax.

She filled our home with her voice, her enormous personality and her wonderful mischief. Daisy snuck her way into the hearts of everyone she met. The house may be quieter now, the space above my head empty and the footsteps two steps behind me painfully absent, but the love she gave could never be reduced to ashes.

Out of the ashes rise the memories:
the echo of her voice,
the warmth of her sleeping above my head,
the patter of paws following close behind,
the hopeful wait for a piece of cheese,
and a love that will follow me forever.

Rest gently, my beautiful Daisy. You were deeply loved every day of your life, and you always will be.
