Dear Fudge,

I never imagined I would have to write this. A final goodbye to you feels impossible, because loving you became part of who I am. I miss your wheeks every time a packet crinkles and the way you would curl up on me and fall asleep, so small yet so full of trust. You were the gentlest soul, soft in every way, and loving you came so naturally.

Alfie misses you. I miss you in ways I don’t even know how to explain. I am so deeply sorry for the pain you went through and for not being there in your final moments. That will always sit in my heart, but so will every moment of love we shared. You were my first pet, yet calling you a pet feels wrong, because you became my child. No one else may understand the depth of this loss, but my heart knows it, and it is shattered.

You deserved the world. I know your life didn’t start gently, but I hope with everything in me that I gave you safety, warmth, and love. I hope you felt how cherished you were every single day. I imagine you now in piggy heaven, wheeking freely, surrounded by endless pellets and bananas, with no pain, only peace. That image is the only thing that brings me comfort.

You will always be my golden boy. Mommy loves you forever and always. You are etched into my heart in a way that time can never erase. As the saying goes, how lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. Loving you was one of the greatest privileges of my life, and I would choose you again every single time.
