IN LOVING MEMORY OF AJ

To our sweet little boy –  AJ

You came into our lives as the most precious surprise and filled each day with laughter and love; and as much as we saved you from a life in Randfontein, in actual fact you saved us and showed us the true definition of unconditional love and trust.

To love a helpless little fluff ball who relies entirely on us became the job of your granny and she took it on as if you were born of her.

We received hourly updates of what you had been up to and your cute antics. You loved hiding under the table and sitting upright in the security gate of the sliding door – looking out on the horizon.

You absolutely loved playing with your fluffy toys and knew each of them when asked to fetch – whether it was Barney, Baby Bop, Tweety or your squeeky newspaper, each of them would be brought to our feet so the game could continue. Clever is an under statement as you truly knew more than you could express and the only thing left to do would have been to speak. We will miss playing hide and seek with you, watching you doggy paddle around the pool and our trips to Durban where you loved running on the beach and walking the promenade showing all who came in your path who was boss.

You were never a fan of children and at any given opportunity barked and “shouted” at anyone who came too close to your family – you were always our fierce protector regardless of your size where your personality compensated every time.

We will always remember you with fondness and love; a naughty little puppy who grew into a calm natured companion for all times. You mellowed as you got older and endured so many ailments which we ensured were sorted out as soon as possible. Your trips to the doggy parlour where you would arrive home with a teddy bear cut always put a smile on our faces and your age faded as you resembled a puppy once again. You fought so hard right until the very end and when it was time to go you were tired despite the longing in your eyes to come home. If love alone could have saved you, you would have been with us forever but we know when you crossed the rainbow bridge, Torres and Axel were there to meet you.

We will long for your presence in our lives always and trust that the tears that flow daily will turn into happy memories one day.

Rest easy our boy!

We will love you until our last breath.
