LUKE
Message
IN MEMORY OF LUKE
Luke was a German Shepherd dog / Great Dane / Husky X from Benoni
1 October 2013 – 29 September 2026
~Dear God~
“If you should hear a scratch upon Eden’s gate tonight,
a gentle whine, a muffled bark; have Peter take a light,
& open up the Pearly Gates & let his spirit in,
For I think he lived in heaven once, please let him back again.
He may have been a mongrel without a pedigree.
Yet, he was noble, kind & good – I think You will agree.
He will be very useful where the souls of children play.
He’ll romp with them & see, dear God, that they don’t go astray.
Just tell him that I’m sorry that I could not pat his head,
& whisper how I loved him, ‘ere his spirit fled.
I pray that when death beckons & my soul surmounts life’s fog,
I’ll rate a place in heaven, dear God,
right beside my dog.”
I miss you every day, every hour, every minute. You were my heart & soul & best friend!
Our heartfelt condolences to the Hodgson family.
